After barely surviving total obliteration during the decades of China’s cultural revolution, in recent years, Rock music in China has undergone a resurgence and is now producing some of the most exciting and vital music in the world today, drawing upon the energy and rebellious spirit of punk, and transforming it into an ecstatic noise .

Carsick Cars are one of the leading bands in this scene and play a refreshing, energetic noise-filled and melodic style of Rock Music, combining the drones and intensity of the early Velvets and Suicide with the jangle and pop sensibilities of The Clean or The Chills. In Australia to play Sydney Psych Fest III, they’ll be stopping in to play a showcase gig at The Tote, supported by two more of the Beijing Scene’s finest bands, Birdstriking and WHITE+.
